Another update to the PHPmotion seo pack

Posted in PhpMotion the June 17th, 2008 | 2 Comments »

A few days ago I released an update to the seo pack available for PHPmotion v2 and everyone was happy. Then someone gave me a few suggestions for new features, so I thought why wait…

Since I didn’t even have time to post about the previous update I’ll give you a quick list of the new features now.

Goodbye cirtex, hello JaguarPc

Posted in General the May 29th, 2008 | No Comments »

I’m finally back online, the server I was hosted on with Cirtex was hacked & every single site on there displayed some “hacked by root-x” message. Probably hundreds of sites as it was shared hosting. Anyway it’s for the better, now I’m using a VPS from jaguarpc.com & all I can say is…. wow. I don’t know why I never moved sooner, sure you have to setup more of the stuff yourself as you manage the vps. But it’s so simple even an internet n00b could do it without too much trouble.

So, if you’re looking for somewhere to host your video site, blog or whatever other sites you own take a look here you won’t regret it!

PS. Their support is the best I’ve ever seen, I used the ticket system for a few questions I had & usually it was solved within minutes! I’d definitely recommend them if you need someone to walk you through the first steps!!

Sorry about the delay

Posted in General the May 20th, 2008 | No Comments »

For those of you waiting for the phpBB3 integration mod or the update for the seo-pack, I’m sorry it’s taking so long but there’s a simple stupid reason to the delay.

99% of the time I cannot even connect to my own site (http or ftp), for some reason the only IP my ISP doesn’t let me connect to appears to be the one I’m hosted on. All Cirtex have to say is contact your ISP, so after not getting anywhere with either the ISP or the host I’m off to somewhere new.

I’m currently in the middle of setting up my new vps with jaguarpc.com & so far so good :) once this is all sorted out, things will get done a hundred times faster (ok maybe not a hundred but it’ll sure speed up).

phpBB/PHPmotion bridge almost completed

Posted in PhpMotion the April 26th, 2008 | 3 Comments »

I started playing around with integrating phpBB with PHPmotion last week, and funny enough a few people started asking about it on the forum so I decided to speed up my work :)

I’ve now finished the mod, which allows seamless integration between phpBB3 & PHPmotion v2. I’ve just got to complete testing then I’ll place a demo online for you all to see. Don’t forget to let me know what you think!

Fed up with slow load times?

Posted in PhpMotion the April 14th, 2008 | 1 Comment »

If you’ve been using PHPmotion v2 you’ll notice that it’s slow. No matter what your connection speed or who’s your host, I’ve never seen a default install load in under 10-15 seconds (for me the demo site takes 22.71 seconds according to this firefox plugin) that’s on 1mb adsl!

There are many reasons to this, huge css file (37KB), bulky code, javascript, etc… The solution? Optimization! For those of you who used the xhtml/css theme I recoded from the original templates for PHPmotion v1 you’ll remember the difference in load time & also how much easier it was to edit. I’ve decided to code up a new theme for PHPmotion v2, unlike with v1 this won’t be an optimized version of the original but an optimized completely new theme!

I’m not sure when they’ll be ready or if they’ll be free or not but one things sure, fast websites are better then slow ones so don’t forget to keep checking out for updates on the new theme!
